Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Goodiebag, operated by Goodiebag Digital Ltd, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Goodiebag at getgoodiebag.com and through the Goodiebag mobile application ("the App"), collectively "the Service", you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement to use this Service.
Senders: You may fund a Goodiebag from anywhere in the world using a payment card supported by Paystack or other supported payment partners (Visa, Mastercard, or Verve). No Nigerian bank account is required to create and fund a Goodiebag.
Recipients: To receive claimed funds, you must have an active account with a supported Nigerian fintech bank (OPay, PalmPay, or Moniepoint) linked to your phone number. Successful claims are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners at claim time. This is a security requirement, not a geographic restriction.
3. Description of Service
Goodiebag is a digital money-gifting platform that allows users ("Senders") to create and fund money packets ("Goodiebags") that can be claimed by recipients through a unique link and PIN. Successful claims are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners to recipients' supported bank accounts (OPay, PalmPay, or Moniepoint) at the time of claiming.
Goodiebag does not operate customer wallets, stored-value accounts, deposit accounts, or bank accounts for users. Goodiebag is a technology platform that enables Senders to create digital Goodiebags and enables successful Recipients to receive payouts through Paystack or other supported payment partners. Funds are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners for the purposes of creating Goodiebags, paying successful Recipients, refunding unclaimed balances, processing permitted fees, handling failed payouts, and meeting fraud prevention, compliance, reconciliation, and operational requirements.
The Goodiebag mobile application (available on Android and coming to iOS) is a companion to the web service. It is not required to send or claim. All core functionality is accessible via the website. The App provides a more personal experience: live claim notifications, a unified sent and received history, and native sharing. By installing and using the App, you agree to these Terms.
The App connects to getgoodiebag.com and uses the same account and transaction infrastructure. Push notifications are optional and can be disabled in your device settings at any time. Auth sessions are stored in encrypted device storage and are not accessible to other apps. Uninstalling the App does not delete your account or data. To delete your account, use the Danger Zone section in Profile within the App, visit getgoodiebag.com/account while signed in, or email support@getgoodiebag.com.
4. Account and Identity Verification
You must provide accurate and complete information when using the Service, including your name, phone number, email address, and bank account details where applicable. We may verify your identity through our payment processing partners. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your PIN and claim links. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorised access to your Goodiebags if you share your PIN or links with unintended parties.
Phone number immutability: Your registered phone number is tied to your profile and is used as the identifier for all claims you make. Once a phone number is registered to a profile, it cannot be changed through self-service. You are responsible for entering a correct phone number that belongs to you at the time of registration. Goodiebag may require additional verification in cases of dispute, incorrect registration, or suspected unauthorised use.
Saved bank account: Authenticated users may save a receiving bank account to their profile for faster claim payouts. Only one bank account may be saved per profile. Once confirmed, the saved bank account is locked and cannot be changed through self-service. To change a locked bank account, users must submit a change request through Goodiebag's support channel. Change requests are reviewed manually and are subject to verification, fraud checks, and approval. Goodiebag does not guarantee that a change request will be approved.
5. Creating and Funding Goodiebags
When you create a Goodiebag, you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method for the total amount (Goodiebag value + platform fee + fulfilment fee). All payments are processed by Paystack or other supported payment partners. A Goodiebag is only active after payment is confirmed.
- Minimum Goodiebag value: ₦500.
- Minimum per recipient: Calculated dynamically based on the number of recipients and split mode. The Create page shows the minimum before payment.
- Maximum Goodiebag value: ₦200,000.
- Large-amount confirmation: Goodiebags above ₦50,000 require a one-time email verification before payment is processed. A code is sent to your email address to confirm the transaction.
- Maximum per-recipient payout: ₦49,999 per claim.
- Maximum recipients: 200 per Goodiebag.
Goodiebags expire after the duration chosen by the sender at creation: 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, or 24 hours. The maximum duration is 24 hours. If a Goodiebag expires with unclaimed funds, Goodiebag will normally initiate a refund of the unclaimed amount to the Sender's original payment method or another supported refund route, subject to Paystack, bank, card network, payment partner, technical, fraud, and compliance processing. Refund timing may vary depending on Paystack, the Sender's bank, card network processing, payment settlement status, fraud checks, chargeback risk, technical availability, or other operational factors outside Goodiebag's direct control.
6. Claiming and Receiving Funds
To claim from a Goodiebag, a recipient must have the correct link and PIN. Each recipient may only claim once per Goodiebag. Claims are verified by phone number and device fingerprint to prevent fraud. Claimed funds are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners to the recipient's supported bank account at claim time, typically within minutes but subject to verification, bank availability, payment partner availability, fraud checks, and technical processing. Senders acknowledge that once a claim is processed, the transaction is final and cannot be reversed.
Claims are subject to availability, correct PIN, supported bank verification, fraud checks, payment partner availability, and the Goodiebag's expiry time. Opening a link does not guarantee a payout.
7. Fees and Payments
Senders pay the following fees, displayed in full before confirming payment:
- Platform fee: 3% of the Goodiebag value, capped at ₦3,000.
- Fulfilment fee: ₦20 per recipient.
Goodiebag does not charge recipients a claim fee. For payouts below ₦10,000, recipients generally receive the claimed amount without any Goodiebag deduction. For payouts of ₦10,000 or more, statutory stamp duty, bank charges, payment partner charges, or other lawful deductions may apply and may be deducted from the recipient's payout where required by law, banks, payment processors, or applicable regulation.
Goodiebag reserves the right to modify fees with reasonable notice. Current fees are always displayed on the Create page before payment.
8. Lucky Split and Variable Allocation Modes
Where a Sender chooses Lucky Split or any randomized, variable, or non-equal distribution mode, the amount received by each successful Recipient may vary. The allocation is determined by Goodiebag's system according to the selected mode, the available Goodiebag balance, the number of successful claims, timing of claims, system rules, and applicable fraud or verification checks.
Lucky Split is intended only for social gifting, rewards, group engagement, and digital value distribution. Recipients do not pay Goodiebag to participate in a Lucky Split claim, and no Recipient is required to provide consideration in exchange for a chance to receive a payout. Goodiebag does not offer betting, gambling, lottery, wagering, or gaming services.
By creating or claiming a Lucky Split Goodiebag, users acknowledge that payout amounts may differ between Recipients and that the final allocation determined by the Goodiebag system shall be treated as final, except in cases of verified technical error, fraud, duplicate claim, or other issue requiring review by Goodiebag.
9. Payouts
Claimed funds are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners to the recipient's supported Nigerian fintech bank account (OPay, PalmPay, or Moniepoint) at the time of claiming, typically within minutes but subject to verification, bank availability, payment partner availability, fraud checks, and technical processing. The recipient's phone number is used as their account identifier. All payouts are processed through Paystack and supported payment partners.
Transfer times are typically fast for supported banks. We are not responsible for delays caused by banking system downtime, payment processor disruptions, or other factors outside our control.
Supported banks (currently OPay, PalmPay, and Moniepoint) may change based on payment partner availability, verification reliability, payout success rates, compliance requirements, or operational risk.
Authenticated users who have saved a receiving bank account on their profile may receive payouts to that saved account without re-entering bank details on each claim. Saved bank accounts are locked once confirmed and can only be changed through a support-reviewed change request. Anonymous claimants and users without a saved bank account must enter their bank details at the time of each claim.
10. Refunds, Expired Goodiebags, and Failed Payouts
If a Goodiebag expires with unclaimed funds, Goodiebag will normally initiate a refund of the unclaimed amount to the Sender's original payment method or another supported refund route, subject to Paystack, bank, card network, payment partner, technical, fraud, and compliance processing.
Refund timing may vary depending on Paystack, the Sender's bank, card network processing, payment settlement status, fraud checks, chargeback risk, technical availability, or other operational factors outside Goodiebag's direct control.
Goodiebag may delay, withhold, reverse, manually review, or decline a refund or payout where Goodiebag reasonably suspects fraud, abuse, duplicate claims, prohibited use, unauthorised payment, chargeback risk, regulatory concern, identity mismatch, system manipulation, or breach of these Terms.
If a Recipient payout fails, Goodiebag may retry the payout, request corrected information, place the claim under manual review, reverse the claim, return funds to the Sender, or take any other reasonable step permitted by law, payment partner rules, and these Terms.
Goodiebag is not responsible for delays or failures caused by banks, payment processors, incorrect user information, unavailable payment networks, card network rules, settlement delays, force majeure events, or restrictions imposed by payment partners or regulators.
11. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Service for:
- Fraud, scams, phishing, impersonation, fake giveaways, fake promotions, or deceptive claims
- Money laundering, terrorism financing, sanctions evasion, or concealment of proceeds of crime
- Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, high-yield investment schemes, get-rich-quick schemes, or unauthorised investment solicitation
- Betting, gambling, lottery, raffle, wagering, or games of chance where prohibited or requiring a licence
- Bribery, corruption, extortion, coercion, vote buying, political inducement, or unlawful campaign finance activity
- Adult sexual services, exploitation, trafficking, harassment, blackmail, or harmful conduct
- Narcotics, controlled substances, illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen goods, or other regulated or high-risk goods or services
- Unauthorized fundraising, crowdfunding, charity collections, or public donation campaigns where legal approval is required
- Spam, bot activity, scripted claims, fake accounts, device manipulation, PIN brute forcing, or circumvention of Goodiebag's security controls
- Transferring funds on behalf of third parties in a way that conceals the true sender, recipient, source, or purpose of funds
- Any activity that violates the rules of Paystack, banks, card networks, payment partners, app stores, regulators, or applicable law
Goodiebag may suspend, cancel, delay, reverse, refund, report, or investigate any Goodiebag, claim, payout, account, or transaction that it reasonably believes may involve prohibited use. We may file reports with regulatory authorities without prior notice.
12. Sender Responsibility for Links and PINs
The Sender is solely responsible for where, when, how, and with whom a Goodiebag link, PIN, QR code, or access detail is shared. Any person who receives or accesses the correct claim link and PIN may be able to attempt a claim, subject to availability, verification, fraud checks, and system rules.
Goodiebag is not responsible if unintended persons claim a Goodiebag because the Sender, a group member, or any other person shared the link or PIN publicly, forwarded it, posted it in the wrong group, or failed to keep it confidential.
13. Recipient Responsibility for Claim Details
Recipients are responsible for ensuring that any phone number, bank account, account name, claim information, or payout detail submitted during a claim is accurate, active, accessible, and belongs to them or is lawfully controlled by them.
Goodiebag may use phone number, bank account, account-name, device, fraud, or payment partner checks to verify claims, but such checks do not guarantee that a payout cannot be misdirected where a user provides incorrect, unauthorised, compromised, or misleading information.
Goodiebag is not responsible for losses, failed payouts, delayed payouts, or misdirected payments caused by incorrect recipient information, unauthorised use of a phone number, impersonation, compromised links or PINs, or claim details submitted by the Recipient.
Because your registered phone number is tied to all claims on your profile, entering an incorrect or unauthorised phone number at registration may result in claims being directed to a bank account you do not control. Goodiebag may not be able to recover funds once a payout is processed to the account confirmed during a claim.
14. Intellectual Property
The Goodiebag name, logo, website at getgoodiebag.com, mobile application, and all related content are the property of Goodiebag Digital Ltd. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
15. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Goodiebag disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Goodiebag shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the fees you paid to Goodiebag in the 12 months preceding the claim.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Goodiebag Digital Ltd and its affiliates harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
17. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, any remaining funds will be refunded to your original payment method, subject to applicable regulations and any pending investigations.
Data retained after termination or deletion: Termination or voluntary account deletion removes your sign-in access and anonymizes your display name across the Service. However, financial transaction records including payment references, claim records, bank details, and transfer references are retained for a minimum of 5 years as required by Nigerian financial law and CBN Anti-Money Laundering regulations. An internal audit record of your account identifiers is retained for up to 7 years for fraud investigation and regulatory compliance. This retention applies regardless of how termination occurs (voluntary deletion, suspension, or enforcement action) and cannot be waived.
18. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through mutual discussion for at least 14 days. If unresolved, the dispute shall be referred to binding arbitration in Rivers State under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023.
19. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
20. Support and Disputes
Users must report any suspected payment issue, failed payout, unauthorised claim, incorrect claim, or refund issue through Goodiebag's official support channel within a reasonable time after becoming aware of the issue.
Goodiebag may request transaction references, phone numbers, payment confirmations, screenshots, bank confirmations, or other information reasonably required to investigate. Goodiebag may decline to resolve a claim where the user fails to provide required information, provides false information, or the issue results from user error, prohibited use, or third-party processing failure outside Goodiebag's control.
